Experience gifts have become popular in recent years as people shift away from giving material items. Sharing or gifting experiences can provide a lifetime of memories.

When we give a gift, we hope it will be meaningful and impactful for the recipient. You may have fond memories of a childhood activity with a family member, a trip or staycation, a visit to your favorite restaurant, or a special date night. As you reflect on warm memories, consider what your gift recipient would look back on fondly.

If you’re new to the idea of gifting experiences, don’t worry.

It can be just as rewarding as giving a material gift. Depending on the recipient’s interests, you can choose from many different experiences. As a bonus, you can hear about their experience after the event. Here are a few ideas:

  • Tickets to the movies, a museum, a concert, a sporting event, the zoo, or a play
  • A gift certificate for a massage, facial, or other spa treatment
  • A cooking class
  • A wine-tasting or brewery tour
  • A lesson in a new skill, such as dancing or a musical instrument
  • A weekend getaway to a nearby city or town
  • Time exploring, creating, or learning together

No matter what experience you choose, make sure it is something that the recipient will enjoy and appreciate. After all, the best gifts are the ones that create lasting positive memories.
