How to Translate the APH ConnectCenter Website

At the APH ConnectCenter, accessibility is always our priority. For the past year, we’ve offered Spanish translations of our website pages. After careful review, we found that maintaining the translation tool created ongoing technical challenges, and usage was lower than expected. Rather than continuing a limited solution, we’re shifting focus to empowering users with easy-to-use translation tools already available on most devices and browsers.

Accessing our content in Spanish — or any language — remains simple and free. You can translate any APH ConnectCenter page using free tools like Google Translate or built-in browser features, and we’ve created screen reader–friendly instructions to help you do just that on your computer, phone, or tablet.

On a Computer (Screen Reader Friendly)

Translations of webpages are easy with these simple shortcuts.

Google Chrome

  1. Open our website in Google Chrome.
  2. Press Alt+Shift+T (Windows) or Command+Shift+T (Mac) to move focus to the browser toolbar.
  3. Use the Right Arrow key to navigate to the “Translate this page” button if it appears. Press Enter.
  4. If you don’t see a translate button:
    • Press Alt+D (Windows) or Command+L (Mac) to move to the address bar.
    • Type translate.google.com and press Enter.
    • In Google Translate, paste our website address, choose Spanish, and press Enter.

(You can also open Chrome’s menu with Alt+F and navigate with arrow keys to “Translate.”)

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open our website in Microsoft Edge.
  2. If a translation banner appears, press Ctrl+L to move to the address bar, then Shift+Tab backward into the banner.
  3. Use the arrow keys to select Spanish and press Enter.

On a Phone or Tablet (Screen Reader Friendly)

Translations on a phone or tablet are no problem with these easy steps.

Chrome on Android (TalkBack)

  1. Open our website in the Chrome app.
  2. If Chrome detects another language, it will announce: “Translate this page.”
  3. Swipe right until you hear “More options. Button,” then double-tap.
  4. Swipe until you hear “Translate,” then double-tap.
  5. Swipe until you hear “Spanish” and double-tap.

Safari on iPhone or iPad (VoiceOver)

  1. Open our website in Safari.
  2. With VoiceOver on, swipe until you hear “Show Reader and Website Options” (this is the AA button in the address bar) and double-tap.
  3. Swipe to “Translate Website” and double-tap.
  4. Choose Spanish.

Helpful Tips

  • Once you choose Spanish, your browser will usually remember your choice next time you visit.
  • If you use a screen reader, make sure you have a Spanish voice installed on your device. This ensures the translated text is spoken correctly.
  • Translations are not perfect, but they are usually good enough to help you understand the content.

We hope these tools make it easy and convenient for you to keep accessing our content in the language that works best for you. Thank you for being part of our APH ConnectCenter community.
