Jason Castonguay’s musical journey began at just three years old when he amazed family and friends by playing the entire National Anthem on a toy organ.
He went on to study at the Hartt School of Music and later at Central Connecticut State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance (Jazz Studies) as well as a degree in Management Information Systems (Computer Technology).
Jason’s career quickly gained momentum. He became the first winner of the “Connecticut Idol” title and went on to perform in Las Vegas for the American Idol TV show before an audience of 10,000.
Jason has appeared as the featured soloist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra before an audience of 3,000. He also performed with the New Britain Symphony Orchestra for many years, both during and after his college years.
Throughout his career, Jason has performed hundreds of concerts, both locally and nationwide. He is especially sought after for his renditions from “The Great American Songbook,” which resonate with audiences of all ages.
His travels have taken him nationwide and beyond, including cruise ship performances in the Bahamas. He has also co-hosted radio programs in Atlanta and continues to delight listeners with his live performances.
A Life Full of Interests
When he’s not performing, Jason enjoys time in his home recording studio and office. His hobbies are as eclectic as his musical repertoire, ranging from maintaining a digital pipe organ and collecting Western Electric telephones to caring for a flock of pet chickens.
Jason’s passion for learning extends to instruments as well—he began studying the harp and later took up the trumpet, continuing to expand his musical talents.
Career in Technology
In addition to music, Jason is an expert in computer technology. He has worked for major corporations, including AT&T and Apple, Inc. His unique blend of technical and artistic skills sets him apart in both fields.
Today, Jason performs regularly at local restaurants, churches, and private events. He has entertained dignitaries, including guests at the Connecticut Governor’s Mansion, on several occasions.
Beyond his talent, Jason is admired for his warm and engaging personality. Audiences can also hear him weekly on his radio show ArtFelt, airing Tuesday evenings from 8:00–10:00 on ACB Media 4 and Mixcloud.
