Join the APH CareerConnect Student Advisory Committee and make a difference in the lives of other transition-age youth who are blind or low vision!
The APH CareerConnect Student Advisory Committee is a group of blind and low-vision high school and college students age 14 to 24 who work with APH ConnectCenter staff to develop resources and share insights on transition and career awareness through writing blogs and participating in webinars.
As a member, you will have the opportunity to:
- Gain valuable leadership and teamwork skills
- Develop your communication and public speaking skills
- Network with other blind and low-vision professionals
- Learn about the latest trends and developments in career education and employment
- Make a real difference in the lives of other transition-age youth who are blind or low vision
The committee meets online six times yearly for up to 60 minutes per meeting. This is a two-year commitment.
- A brief introduction of yourself (500 words or less) that may include your plans for what you will do after high school or college graduation
- A paragraph explaining what you know about APH CareerConnect and our APH ConnectCenter Transition Hub
- Two or three ideas that you would like to help incorporate into the APH CareerConnect website and/or on the APH ConnectCenter Transition Hub
- One achievement that you are most proud of
- Acknowledgment that you are familiar with access technology and the Zoom platform
- Name and contact information of one person who can serve as a reference other than a parent or guardian

Student applicants age 17 and younger must submit a letter from a parent/guardian acknowledging permission to participate in the APH Student Advisory Committee.
