Services Offered
- Assessment
- Provides detailed clinical assessment of each person's vision needs, vision abilities, and options for enhancement of visual functioning. Explains and thoroughly discusses all of the above to the patient and offers treatment options.
- Low Vision Services
- Performs comprehensive low vision evaluations and provides counseling on how best to adapt to visual problems. Prescribes and dispenses a supply of low vision devices, including eyeglasses, magnifiers, telescopes, video devices and computer/video devices, and low vision magnifiers.
- Information and Referral
- Refers to and coordinates with community, state and federal resources as needed (e.g., O&M training, vocational placement, orientation to blindness and training in independent living, veterans services), and provides support services to the patient and family members.
