Downloads
- Python
- Download: https://www.python.org/downloads/
- Beginners Guide for non-programmers: https://wiki.python.org/moin/BeginnersGuide/NonProgrammers
- Note: Use Visual Studio Code for doing the actual coding.
- Running Python scripts from the command prompt on Windows: This is the first part of the Python Windows FAQ. Although I recommend using Visual Studio Code for writing your scripts, running them directly from the Windows command prompt will do a better job of automatically speaking the output than when running them with the Visual Studio Code terminal.
- Note: If you’re debugging a script, the VSCode terminal is best.
- Visual Studio Code
- Download: https://code.visualstudio.com/download
- Accessibility Support for Visual Studio Code: https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editor/accessibility
- Note: Since Python uses indentation to infer code structure, you need to hear the amount by which each line is indented.
- To configure this for JAWS:
- Open Visual Studio Code
- Press JAWSKey+6 on the number row to launch SettingsCenter
- Search for Indent.
- Make sure that “Say Indented Characters” is enabled.
