Brief Description
The Kentucky Talking Book Library (KTBL) provides free library service to people who cannot read traditional print because they have a visual, physical, or reading disability. Audio and Braille materials are sent to and from users by postage-free mail. Special equipment is provided by the library. KTBL has been in operation since 1968 and is part of a national network of libraries administered by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, a branch of the Library of Congress.

- Library Services
- KTBL provides library service to eligible individuals and institutions. Reading materials and playback equipment are sent via the US Postal Service at no cost to patrons. Reading materials may also be downloaded from the BARD website using a computer or the BARD Mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. Materials available:
Talking books and magazines on digital cartridges,
BARD downloadable talking books and magazines,
BARD Mobile app for iOS or Android smartphones and tablets,
Braille books and magazines,
print/Braille picture books,
downloadable Braille books and magazines,
NFB Newsline,
NLS Music Services(for music scores and instruction).
Catalogs are available in Braille, large print, audio, and online to aid in book selection. Users may request that their librarian select books for them, based on their reading preferences.
