Brief Description
APSEA provides materials, education and training for students who are blind or visually impaired and their public school teachers through a network of trained itinerant teachers that serve local school districts.
Services Offered
- Consultation/Technical Program Assistance
- Provides consultation and itinerant teacher support for local community day care centers and preschools attended by children served by APSEA. Provides consultation in orientation and mobility, preschool and transition services, itinerant teacher consultation, and support for public school teachers, schools, school districts. A library of alternate format materials and professional resources is available through APSEA Resource Centre in Halifax.
- Professional Training
- In-school system as required, including sponsorship of a master's level course in education for teachers of students who are blind or visually impaired.
