ZoomText: Getting Started

Description:  Join Ben Knolles and Mike Wood of Vispero for an overview of ZoomText, a screen magnification software for persons with low-vision. Ben will begin by highlighting differences between ZoomText, Jaws, and Fusion to assist participants in identifying which application will best suit the needs of their students. He will review how ZoomText can lessen eye strain and improve access to computer applications used in the classroom. Finally, Ben will demonstrate how students can customize ZoomText for use in a specific computer application.  He will do this using Google Chrome and Microsoft Word.

Target Audience: Teachers, Assistive Technology Specialist, Parents, Students 

Pre-requisite knowledge:   None  

Lesson Plan Goal:  Participants will be introduced to key magnification and reader features of Vispero’s ZoomText software.   

Learning Objectives: Participants will identify a minimum of three differences between JAWS, ZoomText, and Fusion; Participants will learn three ways to customize ZoomText from the magnification menu; Participants will list three ZoomText features that can lessen eyestrain; Participants will review how to customize ZoomText in a specific computer application.
