Topic: Transition from Early Intervention to Preschool

The transition from Early Intervention to Preschool can be overwhelming and unknown.  Mrs. Tabaka will discuss next steps, the difference between Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and Individualized Education Program (IEP), the process of determining eligibility for services, and what school days look like.

Our presenter will be Ms. Lisa Tabaka who is a graduate of Illinois State University. Lisa has been working with students who are blind or have low vision for the past seventeen years.  Currently, she works for Heart of Illinois Low Incidence Association (HILIA) as vision facilitator and itinerant teacher of students with visual impairments. Lisa earned a Master’s degree in rehabilitation teaching for blind and low vision students from Western Michigan University.  During her time at HILIA, Lisa has become a National Board Certified Teacher, served on leadership committees, supervised pre-service teachers in the low vision and blindness program and taught in the undergraduate program at Illinois State University.
