The Business of Being Blind – Via Zoom

This Event is for Youth, Adults and Families to hear from people with sight loss sharing about their jobs/careers and experiences. Meet David Richman, who retired in May 2022, after 34 years as professor of Theatre and Humanities at the University of NH. He will share his journey with vison loss and his many successes. Richman earned his B.A. from Harvard University and his Ph.D. from Stanford University. Some of Richman’s achievements, which are too numerous to list in this space, include teaching courses in the Interpretation of Shakespeare, Play reading, American Theatre, and the History, Theory and Criticism of Theatre as well as courses on such topics as marriage and the history and purpose of the University. He directed students in more than 40 plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Beckett, and other classical and modern dramatists. He has performed in several plays, including his own dramatization of Emily Wilson’s translation of The Odyssey and authored books about Shakespearian comedies and W.B. Yeats Plays. He is the recipient of the Lindberg Award, given to the outstanding teacher-scholar in the College of Liberal Arts, the 1938 Professorship Award for University wide outstanding teaching, and the 2018-2019 recipient of the Jean C.
