Connecting your Families at Home with the Resources They Need to Thrive

Description: Presented by the APH ConnectCenter, this webinar will focus on three parents of visually impaired children as they navigate their lives through the COVID-19 era as parents, teachers, employees, entertainers, physical educators, and social committees. What challenges have they faced transitioning to both working from home and teaching their kids? How are they meeting the accessibility needs of a child with a visual impairment? What techniques have they used to incorporate learning at home with physical ed., Orientation and mobility, and socialization? What resources have they used to ensure that their child’s accessibility needs are being met? And in what areas do they continue to struggle? What products and services are you missing that are hard to come by or remain unattainable? We will ask these questions and more while also taking questions from our audience. Teachers are invited!
Moderator: Robin Lowell, TVI, Curriculum Developer at Insights 2 Execution (i2e), and consultant for Microsoft.
Panelists: Our panelists include Brittany Clarkson, Mother to Addie who attends the Kentucky School for the Blind. Brittany is also studying to become a TVI. Kelli Shubert, Mother to Claire, who is low-vision and uses accommodations like video magnifiers. Darren Lewis, Father to Joshua, who is a visually impaired 10 year old who has taken a keen interest in coding.
